suggestology and the malay race

In Neuro Lingustic Programming, there is a concept of Suggestology. This concept explains the conditioning effect, of which a good example is the case of Pavlov's experiment on his dogs.

To recap, Pavlov repeatedly rang a bell and fed the dog some food until the dog had been conditioned to salivate just at the ring of a bell. In fact, there are sources that indicate the power of such conditioning in the training of sniffer dogs trained to sniff out drug smugglers in airports.

How does this relate?

For an entire generation, the Malay race had been repeatedly told by their government and ruling party that they are a weak race that cannot flourish without the continuous aid of the New Economic Policy and its affirmative actions, special privileges and perks to go with it.

The conscious mind may refuse to acknowledge the fact, but the subconscious mind keeps all this negative suggestology in place. When this happens, the Malay race weakens due to its own belief that they are inferior compared to other communities, and need the crutches provided by UMNO to survive in the world.

In essence, Suggestology is a form of mind control. By subduing the mind with words or phrases continuously repeated, the mind can be automatically triggered to support the ruling party whenever the rhetoric is spewed from the mouths of UMNO. Therefore, the true objective of UMNO's NEP is not to help the Malay race, but to ensure that they can garner the votes of the Malay race through conditioning them to believe that without UMNO, the Malay race is hopeless.
